I don't know why I did it, but I walked into the middle of the circle with the man and held out my arms to him. He would not embrace me. He would not look up.
I stood with the man who would not love. A girl came out of the crowd and gave me a hug, then a boy, then two men. The man would not look up. I turned to him again and again, but he would not stop for love.
Others invited me to jeer at him and close around, but that wasn't what I wanted. I had to let go their hands when they stopped holding them for love. A few others came to me there in the circle of hating people. The man would not look up, and I walked away sad.
I shed a tear for the man who would not love.
This really happened today. I am not writing a metaphoric perspective from the point of view of Jesus, I am not writing a piece of brief fiction. Today I found a man who would not stop for love. And it made me cry.
